Crisis Rescue Foundation (CRF), previously the ‘Covid Crisis Rescue Foundation’, is providing vital services to help in crisis situations across the UK and abroad - this work has been ongoing on a daily basis since Spring 2020.
Our initiatives have included:
i) Provision of PPE and medical devices to frontline services and patients;
ii) The CRF Pulse Oximeter Delivery Service - a free, pan London 7 day a week service delivering oxygen saturation probes to patients’ homes by a team of dedicated bikers and with the support of the Royal Free Hospital. About 5000 probes have been delivered to patients across London since the service launched in May 2020;
iii) The Covid Crisis Rescue Volunteer Team- at the peak of the pandemic the team numbered about 90 volunteers distributing food donated by London eateries 5 days a week to NHS staff to 10 busy London hospitals;
iv) The Vaxi Taxi Health and Wellbeing Pop Ups have been running in areas of deprivation in the hearts of communities across London since early 2021 serving people experiencing barriers to accessing healthcare, including at community, faith, asylum seeker, drug and alcohol rehabilitation centres, and homeless shelters. The Vaxi Taxi Pops Ups address inequalities of health by making health and wellbeing more accessible for all;
v) HELP INDIA NOW THINK TANK PROJECT - a coalition of UK and India based clinical and non-clinical experts established to support ongoing efforts in India to manage health needs, including by means of 'COVID Clinical Conversations'- the development of clinical resources for professionals and the public, including to inform the establishment of pulse oximetry at home pathways, and to deliver wellbeing support, as well as to assist in the sourcing of medical equipment supplies;
vi) UGANDA CLINICAL SUPPORT PROJECT- the establishment of a group of UK and Uganda based clinicians and associated professionals working to support frontline clinicians with health needs, including in the midst of the COVID pandemic in Uganda, by fundraising for medical essentials and providing peer support as needed;
vii) On the 4th of April 2022 Crisis Rescue Foundation established the Crisis Rescue Foundation Medical School U.K. Elective Programme. The aim of the Programme is to support the medical education and wellbeing of international medics located globally impacted by war and national crises, including refugee medics in the UK, by delivering online lectures, in person training events and support to arrange clinical attachments. We have collaborated with expert medical educators, including medical school lecturers and medical specialists, to structure the Programme.
Over 2000 students are registered with the Crisis Rescue Foundation Medical School U.K. Elective Programme and these numbers are growing daily. The costs to keep the Medical School U.K. Elective Programme going are significant. Please help us to continue with our crucial work by making a donation here https://gofund.me/f34bca4f.
viii) On the 24th of April 2023, the Crisis Rescue Foundation established the CRF Sudan Crisis Support Group to support Sudanese clinicians during the current conflict by delivering bespoke clinical and well-being sessions to Sudanese clinicians through the Crisis Rescue Foundation Medical School.
